Quote(s) of the Day
"What I say?  This is a dream come true for me.  Here I am, 20-years old.  To be able to start a major league game just a few hours from where I grew up and actually win it.  It's just...wow.  I am truly blessed.  Now maybe Amanda Dawn will let me get to second base." - Rookie Texas Rangers pitcher Tommy Boggs.

"I would like to say things was just fine.  I would like to say that everything is cute fuzzy bunnies and beautiful rainbows.  I would really like to say those things, but I can't right now.  Because right now, we are really struggling." - Detroit Tigers right fielder Rusty Staub.

Injuries:
2B Mike Cubbage (.293, 4 RBI) suffered a sprained knee in a collision at second base.
He is expected to miss about 2 weeks and is placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Recalled SS Ken Pape (.350, 1 HR, 3 RBI) from Triple A Sacremento.
Lenny Randle will play second in place of Cubbage, will Pape possible getting some playing time if the world ends.

Transactions:
2B Tommy Helms (..273, 1 HR, 3 RBI) cleared waivers and was assigned to Triple A Charleston.

Optioned MR Rick Langford (3.2 IP, 0.00 ERA) to Triple A Charleston.
Purchased contract of CL Odell Jones (0-1, 4 SV, 2.57 - AA) from Double A Shreveport.
Langford made a good representation of himself, yet gets the boot for prospect Odell Jones.  Jones will be buried in the pen only to be used in blowouts.

Optioned MR Tom Hall (4.1 IP, 2.08 ERA) to Triple A Tidewater.
Recalled CL Bob Myrick (0-1, 4 SV, 5.40 - AAA) from Double A Tidewater.
Rumors of possible blackmail photos of New York general manager Joe McDonald have led us to the cause of this move.  Myrick will be the sole lefty in the pen as was Hall.  Interesting.
