One Error Costs Kison

Player of the Day
Bruce Kison
Cincinnati Reds 2, Pittsburgh Pirates 1
WP: Fred Norman (4-1, 1.95 ERA) / LP: Bruce Kison (3-1, 0.58 ERA) / SV: Rawly Eastwick (3, 1.35 ERA)

A fielding error by Pittsburgh third baseman Bill Robinson in the fourth inning (his 6th of the year) allows Cincinnati to score two unearned runs - runs that would prove to be the difference in the game as Bruce Kison otherwise shuts down the Reds offense.

Quote(s) of the Day
"I pitched pretty well, those other things I can't control.  Errors happen.  I'm not going to hold a grudge or anything.  Billy (Robinson) has won us quite a few games with his bat so the ratio of games won/lost is still way in his favor.  I just hope it doesn't become a habit." - Pittsburgh Pirates pitcher Bruce Kison.

"It has been three years since I played third in a game - so I am a little rusty.  Not making excuses or anything, I take pride in my defense and I should be making those plays.  For some reason though, that damn little ball doesn't like to go in my glove like it is supposed to." - Pittsburgh Pirates third baseman Bill Robinson.

Injuries:
SP Roger Moret (.255, 1 HR, 3 RBI) is suffering from conjuctivitis.
This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 2 days.
Barring a setback, Moret should be good to go for his next start.

SP Dennis Eckersley (2-1, 3.42 ERA) is suffering from food poisoning.
He is expected to be out about 2 days.
Eck is due up next in the rotation, so odds are he will miss that start.  Damn Chinese food!

CF Cesar Geronimo (.364, 9 RBI) suffered some knee tendinitis after stealing a base.
This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 6 days.
Sources are saying that Geronimo is planning to play on the knee and work his way through the pain.

MR Stan Wall (0-0, 0.00 ERA, 2.2 IP) suffered from back stiffness while pitching.
He is expected to miss about 6 days.
Surprisingly, it looks like Arnold will start at 3B.  Whether or not he hits behind the pitcher remains to bee seen.

CF Jerry White (.098, 3 RBI) suffered an injury running the bases.
A diagnosis is not yet known.

LF Dave May (.214, 1 RBI, 14 AB) suffered a mild hamstring strain while making a throw.
This is a day-to-day injury expected to last 1 day.
Surprisingly, it looks like Arnold will start at 3B.  Whether or not he hits behind the pitcher remains to bee seen.
