Cubs Win!  Cubs Win!  Cubs Win!

Player of the Day
Bill Bonham
Chicago Cubs 3, Houston Astros 1
WP: Bill Bonham (1-4, 3.00 ERA) / LP: Joe Niekro (0-3, 6.29 ERA) / SV: Mike Garman (1, 0.00 ERA)

It has been 16 games since the Chicago Cubs have tasted the sweet nectar of victory, and although it was just their second win of the season - these men celebrated as though they had brought a world championship.  Bill Bonham was carried off as a hero, manager Jim Marshall took a huge sigh of relief, and the city of Chicago is a happy town tonight.

Of course, the rest of the league is still laughing at them.

Quote(s) of the Day
"I have to admit, I had my doubts that we would win another game.  I mean, I know the odds are in our favor that we would win one eventually, but I was beginning to wonder.  Now we have something to build on going into Atlanta.  We beat one Niekro tonight, we should be able to take out another tomorrow." - Chicago Cubs right fielder Joe Wallis.

"Hell yes it pisses me off.  Did you see them out there?  Losing to them is flat out inexcusable.  I've seen little league teams that handle themselves with a ton more class that than those clowns.  They may think it is all in fun, but we won't forget.  There will be payback." - Houston Astros closer Ken Forsch.
