Seaver Strikes Out In Getting Win

Player of the Day
Tom Seaver
Philadelphia Phillies 2, New York Mets 1
WP: Tom Underwood (2-0, 4.11) / LP: Bill Apodaca (0-2, 1 BS, 9.00 ERA) / SV: Jim Kaat (5, 1.32 ERA)

Unfortunately for Tom Seaver, 14 strikeouts in a game does not always guarantee victory.  For the second time in three starts, Seaver throws more than 14 K's in a game, but has yet to get a win.

Quote of the Day
"People expect me to be upset and complain but I just can't do it.  They forget that my last time out I pitched absolutely horrible and didn't make it out of the fourth inning, so I am thankful I got my stuff back.  Now if we can just score some @#%$&@# runs around here, we might win a few games.  Not that I am bitter or anything." - New York Mets pitcher Tom Seaver.
